Built for people who are tired of adjectives

Haybox exists because two things are true at once. Frontier models are genuinely good, and most of what agentic coding tools bill them for didn’t need them. The gap between those facts is money — your money — and nobody in the stack was structured to care. Tool vendors sell seats and tokens. Providers sell tokens. The person paying had no instrument.

So we built the instrument: a router accountable to measured outcomes, a ledger that survives an adversarial reader, and a bias toward hardware you already own.

What we believe, in operating terms

  • Receipts over adjectives: every claim ships with its number and every number with its method.
  • Plain verbs: software here routes, runs, passes, fails, and costs.
  • Quality floors before cost savings, because cheap that doesn’t hold is expensive.
  • Local-first as an architecture, not a mode.
  • Open where openness builds trust, with a licensing pledge we expect to be quoted back at us.

The name is a kitchen technique; the story lives on the homepage and we won’t wear it out here.

Dennis Consorte

Founder

Twenty years running a marketing firm is twenty years of watching a line item and asking what it bought. He teaches statistics at Queensborough Community College, which is where this site’s habit of putting a confidence interval next to a number comes from. He writes for Forbes and Entrepreneur, and wrote a book about burnout.

Roadmap, loosely held

Team plans (early access via the audit kit), a shared inference tier for machines that can’t simmer, a longer memory for long-running work. No dates; the changelog is where truth lands.
